Here's the text of the 3D Chat:
October 21, 2000 Q: Do you sing in the shower? Zac: No. Q: What will your next single be and when do you plan on making another music video? Zac: Our next single will be Runaway Run or Save Me, but we still have to decide whether we are going to come up with another single. Q: "When things get tough on tour, when you're the road so much, what do you like to do to relax or gain perspective again?" Zac: Sleep. Q: I was wondering if there were any hard rock/rap groups you guys liked? Ike: I like Metallica and I have actually heard some Snoop dog but would not consider myself an aficionado for either. Q: What are you're favorite sport teams or players? Zac: Tiger Woods, but I can't play golf. Q: "If you could do a duet with any person, who would it be?" Taylor: Welcome to chat everybody. If you was just on the Yahoo chat, you would know it would be Aretha Franklin. Q: "What's your absolute favorite thing to do when you have down time (together, alone, with other people, whatever)?" Ike: Playing my guitar is one of them, going out with friends and playing Frisbee and movies. Q: How do you guys juggle homeschooling and your tour all at once?? Zac: Very delicately. It's hard to make time for school, but it is something you have to do. Q: What is your fave theme park out of all the ones you have been to? Taylor: We were just in Arlington, Texas and we did some awesome rides. Mr. Freeze was great, I highly recommend it. Q: Who has helped you the most along the way and what did they do to help you? Ike: My parents have been the most helpful in my life because of them helping us with our music. Q: What is the first thing that goes through our mind when you see a packed audience excited for a Hanson concert? Zac: I'm glad I'm not in the audience, and then the excitement of doing a show kicks in. You say something like, Oh, yeaaaah! Q: Do you plan on having a new Christmas CD this year? Or any new CD for that matter? Ike: we don't have any plans to release any albums this year. Q: Have you ever been asked to sign something special or that you felt cool to be asked to sign? Taylor: It is always cool to sign anything that benefits charities, but also guitars or musical instruments because it is someone else that is doing music that want you to sign their instrument. Q: "What song on "This Time Around" means the most to you?" Taylor: There are a lot of songs that mean the most, I'm just gonna say all of them mean a lot to me. Q: "Tay, I heard that you wear contacts. Is that true?" Taylor: No that is not true. Q: Do you feel that there were any changes between this tour and the Albertane tour? Ike: One of the biggest changes is that we have not played the same set twice on this tour and it has made it interesting for us and the audience. Also we were planning on doing that when we started the tour so we listed the songs in the tour program so that when fans come to a show they can mark off the songs you've played as well as leaving space for other songs. Q: "Does anybody tell you what to wear in concert, or is it all your own choice?" Taylor: Everything from what we wear to the things we do or say, are always our choice. Q: What was your favorite venue (on the east coast)and why? Taylor: I love the Beacon Theatre in New York, also Jones Beach in New Jersey is a great venue. Q: Do you have any fears? Like heights or spiders etc.? Taylor: Well, I'm not a fan on spiders and if you ever get high enough that can be freaky, but not particularly. Q: "I would like to know, what you do right before you go on stage?" Zac: Right before I go on stage, you generally check the set list with everyone and make sure they are aware of any changes made. You think for the best, and go for it. Q: Do you get alot of sleep when you're on tour? Zac: Yes, you get a lot of sleep, because the bus rocks you to sleep. Q: "Hey Taylor, I was just wondering if you didn't have a career after this year what college would you go to and why?" Taylor: Good question. If I decided to go to college, it would be probably on the East Coast. College is very important but music is the most important thing to me right now. Q: Do you guys dress up for Halloween? Zac: Yes, we dress up for Halloween when we are in the country. Unfortunately we will not be dressing up this year. Q: When you guys go into the studio do you record the music first or the singing or is it both at the same time? Taylor: It all depends on the song and it can be either way. A lot of the time we will slowly build it up with the rhythm track first. Q: "Have you guys ever planned to learn brass instruments...or are you decidedly guitar, drum, style rock?" Ike: I have been interested in learning the saxophone but haven't had the opportunity to sit down and really learn it. I would also like to enhance my guitar abilities by learning to play the bass. Q: Are you going to release a live album/video for this tour like you did for Live from Albertane? Zac: It's possible that we will release a live album or video, but at the moment there are no plans. Q: How did you choose your opening acts? Taylor: Well it is just based on bands that we like, and bands that are into performing with us. It they meet that criteria then they play with Hanson. Q: Why did you guys decide to make your own Skateboard design? Do you guys skateboard? Ike: There's a skate board company that was interested, they proposed the design and it was cool. We thought it was a unique and interesting Hanson item. Q: How do you keep fit? Zac: We don't! Though drumming is not too bad for a workout. Q: How did you decide on what covers you would do on tour? Zac: The covers we put on tour are just songs that we like. Q: What other instruments would you like to learn how to play? Taylor: I would love to get a little better with guitar, and master the harmonica a little better. There's always more instruments to try. Q: How much mmm would an mmmbop bop if a mmmbop could bop wood? Zac: Well, I don't know. You seem to have thought it up, so is there an answer? Q: How has being a part of such a large family affected all of you in your careers? Ike: I think being in a large family gives you the tendency to think of others more quickly than you would yourself. Q: Which already known song title would you use to best describe one of your brothers? Taylor: Well, for Zach it would have to be Wooly Bully Q: "When you wish upon a star, what is your wish? " Taylor: To be a real boy. Q: "Is it true that you guys took dancing lessons as youngsters? If so, what type?" Ike: Yes we did take dancing lessons, it was more of a hip-hop style of dance. Q: Do you guys still rollerblade? Ike: It's been a long time since I have done a lot of Rollerblading but yes I still Rollerblade. Q: Do you all feel like you're being taken more seriously as musicians now that you're older and have matured musically? Ike: ANSWER Q: I was just wondering what are the advantages and disadvantages of being famous? Zac: The advantage and disadvantage are relatively similar. Being recognized means you are popular, but being recoginzed means you can't do a lot of stuff. Q: Will you guys be producing any up and coming artists anytime soon? Taylor: If we do that in the coming months, I doubt it, but in the future we would like to do that, producing or writing. Q: What was it like meeting Paul McCartney at the Songwriter's Hall Of Fame? Ike: It was really cool but all too brief, we also got to meet James Taylor , James Brown , Carole King, Brian Wilson , Ben E King, and Phoebe Snow. Q: "Do you guys ever cruise "Memorial" when you're back home in Tulsa?" Taylor: We don't have that much time on our hands when we're back in Tulsa. Q: "You're stuck in your tour bus with nothing but a window and a computer...you've got the four games, Solitare, FreeCall, Minesweeper, and Hearts...which do you play?" Ike: Solitaire or Minesweeper. Q: Can any of you cook? Taylor: I would love to be able to cook, I enjoy it, but I can't claim that I'm good at it. Q: Do you guys have groupies that follow you around? Zac: Yes, we have, we have groupies. More even on this tour than the last. It's very cool, except for when they are runninng arond your hotel room floor and you can't walk outside your hotel room. Q: Would you ever let any of your sister or your brother join the band? Zac: It's not like that where someone can just join the band. We don't audition members. Q: What do you guys enjoy most about going home besides getting to sleep in? Taylor: Everything about being at home, seeing friends and family, driving a car, and stuff like that. Q: "Do you have lucky numbers? And if so, which are they?" Zac: My lucky number is 14,802. Q: "Are you guys believers in fate, or can you control your own destiny?" Taylor: It is a combination of both. Q: "While in the process of writing a song, do you share your progress with your other family members and/or friends and ask them for their opinions on what you've written so far. Or, do you complete the song in it's entirety before playing it for others?" Ike: Inevitably people hear us playing incomplete songs, but we don't particularly ask friends or family members for suggestions. Q: "When you guys did the concert in Fort Wayne, you guys did your last song then came back out to do another one but had us say a special word (Kapuna). What does that mean?" Taylor: We are going to keep that to our self for now, but maybe you guys will find out later. Q: How do you decide where to tour? Zac: That's part of why you have an agent that books your gigs, to help you decide where to tour, but yes, we do decide where we are going to tour. Q: "If you weren't in the music business, do you think that you guys would be as close as you are now?" Ike: It's hard to say, but I think we would still have a very good relationship, even if we weren't in a band together. Q: How do you guys stay healthy while you are touring so you don't have to cancel tour stops? Taylor: You don't always stay healthy. You sometimes have to work through it, the show must go on. Q: Did you have any problems with a song in particular? Zac: Some of the hardest songs to perform live are ballads, which sometimes don't come off as well. But there isn't a song in particular that is hard. Q: "Are you guys going on tour again after you finish the "This Time Around" Tour?" Taylor: We will definately on tour again. Hopefully, it won't be too long. Q: "Now that you have already been out on tour, what do you think about all of these general admission concerts?" Ike: I think people push too much! People should be a little bit more considerate with regard to the people around them. Q: Don't you ever get tired of each other when you're on tour? Ike: Yes Q: Are you planning to do any more projects with Jonny Lang? Taylor: There was talk about him coming out to play a few more shows with us. I don't know it that is going to happen, but I'm sure we will play sometime again. Q: How do you think your fan base has changed since the release of 'This Time Around'? Zac: The fan base has changed slightly with the new record because of the difference from this one and the last. Exactly how it has changed, I don't think anyone can pinpoint. Q: "When you first started your band, did you feel challenged by all the theory you had to learn?" Taylor: I never liked theory. But, for all of you aspiring musicians it is very important. The most important thing is play as much as possible. Q: First of all i just want to say you ROCK on the drums!!! But have you or your brothers ever thought about doing a T.V. show? If so what would it be called? Zac: Thank you, and, no, because it would be called, "This TV Show Sucks." Q: Did you guys have a chance to catch any of the Olympics? What are your favorite events? Ike: I like Diving, Pole Vault and some of the basketball was good. Q: What's it like to know that you have inspired so many people and changed their lives? Taylor: I think it is extremely cool to think that you may have effected someone else, just by doing what you enjoy. Thank you. Q: "Why did you guy's decide to not stick "Smile" and "Lonely Again" on the US album? " Ike: Because there are only so many songs you can put on an album, but it was a very hard decision. Q: "Zac, I was also born on October 22, 1985, I always wondered which one of us was older. I was born at 1:46 P.M. are you younger or older?" Zac: My guess is you were born before me. I was born on the 22nd of October. Q: Have you ever seen a look-a-like that looks a TON like you? When and Where? Taylor: Most of the times that I've seen people that claimed to be look-a-likes, it hasn't been a very close resemblence. Q: "Hey guys, are there any particular memories from either tour that really stand out in your mind?" Ike: I can think of a couple times to where I had to run from very large crowds and I do have to say I was a little bit frightened. I'm sure there are other moments that I can't just pull off the top of my head. Q: Do you get mega tired out during the tour from drumming for an hour or are you used to it? Zac: When you start drumming for long periods of time, you get tired. But after much practice and drumming 8 hours a day, two hours of a show does not seem that long. Q: "Zac, where were you REALLY born? Some people say Tulsa...some say many many other places!!!" Zac: I was born in Arlington, Virginia, if you want to be specific. Q: What's your opinion about all the live pictures of you guys on auction web sites? Are you for or against it? Taylor: I think is people are auctioning things and making money that can get out of hand. There is nothing wrong with people taking pictures when they come to the show, just as long as it is not abused.. Q: Do you guys actually know Dr. Food or is he just a fictional character? Ike: Yes we do know Dr. Food very very well and no he is not a fictional character. Q: Zac do you play other instruments? Zac: Yes. I play piano and nose flute. Q: If you could be a cartoon character which one would you like to be and why? Taylor: I would be Garfield. Q: "It seems as though you all have been blessed tremendously, but what is one thing that is missing in your life?" Ike: I do feel very blessed and no I don't think there is anything that I could complain about. Q: "Would you guys ever chat and hang out with, become friends so to speak with an everyday ""average"" person/fan? " Taylor: Absolutely. We're everyday average people, our friends are average people. We are all just people. Q: How do guys cope with being in a bus for all those months? Zac: Well, by the end of a tour and you leave your bus, it's a very sad thing. It's like moving. If you have ever moved, you would know what I mean. Q: Does fame ever scare you? Ike: Yes, fame does scare you. The part about it that is kind of scary is the recognition by other people, but I enjoy the fact that I get to do what I get to do. Q: I was wondering what your worst nightmare would be and why? Taylor: I think my worst nightmare would be dying by falling into quick sand. Q: "Zac, I recently dreamed that you ate my address book. Why do you think you did that? Or do you just think I'm crazy?" Zac: I'll take Crazy for 500, Bob! Q: I remember you started a science fiction novel about 3 years ago what ever happened to it? Ike: It was never a novel it was more of a short story. Q: Who is your favorite guitarist? Ike: Chuck Berry hands-down. He was the reason I picked up the guitar. Q: "If you guys could live one SPECIFIC MmmBop (moment) over in your lives, what MmmBop (moment) would it be?" Taylor: I'm not sure exactly how to answer that question. There were a lot of great moments, but more imporantly the moments to come. Q: "Zac, is math still your fave subject?" Zac: No. Math hasn't been my favorite subject for many years. Once I stopped adding and subtracting, I hated math. Q: What's your favorite candy bar? Taylor: It is between Snickers, Three Musketeers, and 100 Grand. Q: What are some of the lastest CD's that you have purchased? Ike: Joan Osourne "righteous love" and it is really good. I recommend that you check it out. Q: You broke 8 drumsticks that we could count at Arlington how many do you break on average? Zac: I break 4 sticks a show on average. Q: "After Working with such great artist like Jonny Lang & John Popper, is there anyone you would really like to collaborate with in the future? " Taylor: Clay Ellis, and there are a lot of other great artists of his stature. Q: Has anything ever come between you and Tay or you and Zac? If so what was it over? Ike: Most of the time our biggest arguments have been relating to our music. There are no particular arguments that stick out in my mind but we all have our moments. Q: If you could go back in time and be anyone in the world at anytime who would you be? Zac: I would be Chris Farley. Q: "If you could not use your surname as your band name, what would your name be?" Taylor: We tried to come up with a lot of other names in the beginning, but we always came back to Hanson. Q: Has any of the music that you guys write ever come in handy in your lives? Ike: Music is both a way to express thoughts to other people and to sort out your own problems in life. Writing a song for someone never hurts. Q: "If you could be a kitchen utensil, what kind would you be and why?" Zac: A momma kuchada! Q: If you could create a newspaper headline about yourself what would it be? Why? Taylor: Hanson breaks World Record on Worlds Chat! Q: What would the circumstances have to be in order for you to cancel a concert? Ike: If any of us were very ill. Q: If you know that the world will end tomorrow what you do today? Taylor: What ever the heck I wanted to. Q: "In a battle between Batman & Spiderman, who do you think would win?" Zac: Superman, because he kicked both of their butts. Taylor: Yes, we have always been called my our middle names. Q: Do you have any interest in making a movie? Zac: I guess movies are always possible but there are none planned at the moment. Q: "You've performed for your fans and have given them something amazing, I was just wondering, have any fans ever performed for you?" Ike: Ummm, there have been some fans who have brought guitars to concerts and have gotten together and played songs...some Hanson and some of their own. I thought that was very cool. Q: Considering that most people figure your the groups lead singer would you ever think about doing a solo album? Taylor: You never know what will happen, but I don't think we will ever decide to go solo. Q: "Zac, you have such a good sense of humor and can always make us laugh. Who are some of your favorite comedians? " Zac: Chris Farley, Martin Short, Chevy Chase, John Candy, all the Greats. I could go on forever. Q: Have any of you ever lost your voice before or the day of a concert? Taylor: We have had many close calls before concerts, but somehow we have managed to make it through. Q: How often do you go in the HansonWorlds chatroom? Ike: We go in from time to time. Once we get off tour I think we will be spending more time there. Q: "Zac, how long did it take you to perfect the drums???" Zac: I'll tell you when I do. Q: You guys seem to have a TON of energy This Time Around!! I saw you guys in concert and it was truely the best experience of my life!! What gives you guys motivation and the energy to do a show like that every night? Taylor: Sometimes you have to muster up the energy, but once you get out there and feel the energy from the audience and let yourself go, it becomes about the music and the moment. Q: Is any of the songs on TTA based in somebody from real life? Taylor: There are many things on TTA about real life. The names have been changed to protect the innocent. Q: Hey Zacman if you had a chance to change your life would you do it and if not why? Zac: No, because I have a great life. And the name's Zac. Q: Is there anything about Trinidad that you remember? Ike: Yes I remember a lot about Trinidad. One thing that I remember the most, is their incredibly spicy Kentucy Fried Chicken and a snack food called Chana. It is dried Chick-peas with a spicy curry and pepper. /font> Q: "Zac, are you still weird and crazy like you used to be?" Zac: Yeah, Baby, I'm crazy. Q: How do you deal with good and bad concert reviews made by the press? Taylor: The thing about concert reviews is you can never let any of that effect you, good or bad, you take it in stride, not letting it sink in too much. It has to be about enjoying what you do and taking it as it comes. Q: "What made you decide to pick Betsy as your bike's name, and do you have a favorite kind of Pop-Tart?" Zac: The fact that it's a cool name. Q: What do you want for your birthday? Zac: I want PSI, the new mini PlayStation.
